Dark Sky Lighting Land Management Code Amendments
On April 4, 2024, the Park City Council adopted a resolution recognizing International Dark Sky Week (April 2-8, 2024). This is a worldwide celebration to build awareness about light pollution and the importance of protecting the nighttime environment.
In 2021, the Council enacted Ordinance No. 2021-05, adopting the updated outdoor lighting code. The code applies to new construction. Retrofits to existing outdoor lighting fixtures are not required. However, light bulbs in existing outdoor lighting must be 3,000 degrees Kelvin by December 31, 2024.
