Park City Waste Reduction Ordinance

In October 2025, City Council approved moving forward with a waste reduction ordinance for Park City. The ordinance, linked here, will add requirements for both businesses within 84060 and waste haulers, including recycling.

Waste Hauler Requirements (including businesses that self-haul to a recycling center)

  • Register with the city
  • Identify items you haul (trash, food waste, recycling, cardboard, etc.) and where you haul these items to
  • Properly label bins you service
  • Report amounts hauled

Park City Business Requirements

  • Contracting with an authorized waste hauler for trash and recycling services and providing active account numbers to Park City
  • OR providing proof of participating in a shared waste program through a master association that holds these accounts
  • OR self-hauling their trash or recycling and registering as a hauler

Zero Waste in Park City 

Park City Municipal is pursuing the goal of zero waste by 2030 by embracing a circular economy and focusing on the following:

  1. Preventing waste through source reduction
  2. Reducing waste through reuse and durable products
  3. Recycling materials to be made into new products
  4. Recovering chemicals and energy
  5. Disposal to landfill as a last resort
